So, here’s a great list of the 3 Best SEO Tips for Mommy Bloggers that will help drive traffic to your website while allowing you to get back to mom life.
#1 of Best SEO Tips for Mommy Bloggers – Use the Top Keywords
By keywords, I mean use the words that people are searching for on the Internet when you figure out the title to your blog post and when you actually write it. At first, this can seem confusing because you may begin to wonder how do you figure out what those keywords are. But it is actually quite simple.
When you go to Google, type in the main word or words that you want to blog about. Then, look down below and look at the titles of the top articles that pop up and the questions. If I type SEO in the searchbar, the top webpages have articles titled SEO for Small Businesses and Beginner’s Guide to SEO. You now know that these are popular articles.
Then, look below those titles and you will see some questions. Under the SEO search, the questions What is SEO Marketing? and What is SEO and How it Works? These are popular questions that people are googling to get some answers about SEO
Now, use that information to figure out what you should blog about SEO. Also, figure out what you should title your blog post so people will be interested in your title and content. Don’t reinvent the wheel. With Google, a lot of times its best to use what’s working and save yourself some time. If these blog post titles and questions are working, you can use that as inspiration for your next blog post.
If you’re fan of Pinterest, you can do a search in Pinterest to figure out the same thing. In the search, put in the word SEO. Pinterest will then show you that SEO Tips, YouTube SEO, and SEO Marketing are all popular search terms.
Now, that you know what people are searching on Pinterest, you can also use that information to determine what to write your blog post about and what to title your blog post. Take this blog post for example, it’s called the 7 Best SEO Tips for Mommy Bloggers. This title wasn’t by chance. I knew SEO tips was a popular search term and using those words would drive people to my blog. Again, easy peasy!
#2 of Best SEO Tips for Mommy Bloggers – Write 1000 Word Blog Posts
Ok, don’t freak out. I know 1000 words sounds like a lot. But you got this. I’m on my #2 tip and I already have 684 words. You can do this too for your blog posts and you should. The reason is simple: Google likes long blog posts. Google considers blog posts long when they have over 1000 words. Posts over 2500 words are golden! To see a sample of one of my blog posts and how I write them, check this post on the 4 Best Blogging Tools for Mommy Bloggers.
You may think, if I have good content, why does it have to be a certain length? The reason is that Google wants to make sure you’re writing a blog post of substance that people will want to read. People like longer blog posts because it means they stay on your page longer. If they stay on your page longer, Google has more opportunities for them to see ads and come back.
Writing longer blog posts also establishes your authority in your space. To keep it 100 as they say, many people don’t follow this rule. They write what they can and that may be just 400 words. Google is not saying that it won’t send traffic your way, but you won’t get the traffic that other bloggers are getting with posts that are 1000, 1500, or 2000 words.
Overall, it’s best to get in the habit of writing longer blog posts from the start. As you blog more and write more blog posts and really get into your subject matter, you’ll see that before you know it, you’ll have 1000 words. I’m at 922 words for this article right here. If you can, spend five more minutes adding content to your blog post and Google will reward you with more traffic.
#3 of Best SEO Tips for Mommy Bloggers – Focus on the Readability of Your Posts
I like this term readability. It describes everything you need to know. It’s the ability of people to read your post in a clear, concise manner. You should focus on the readability of your posts, so readers will like them, and Google too. For more tips to help you with your blog, read my 6 Blogging Tips for New Mommy Bloggers.
Think back to that time you read a poorly written article or book. Did you stay on the page of the article and read it or did you turn to another article? Most people don’t stick with reading the article or book unless it’s mandatory reading for a class.
You want people to enjoy what you’re writing. First, write shorter sentences. Shorter sentences allow people to read your text easier. Second, use active voice. Passive voice can be too long and too complex. Finally, write short paragraphs. People want to understand what you’re writing. They don’t want to read paragraphs that are 30 sentences too long!
You want to make it easy for people to read your posts and understand them. You have some great content in your blog posts! So, make sure they can read them too.
